THE BENEFITS OF USING THE 'PETAL' NETI POT INCLUDE: effective in fighting and preventing allergies, infections and illnesses especially recommended when sick with respiratory illnesses or allergic reactions improves breathing through the nose and enhances energy flow in your body natural protection from flu and other respiratory illnesses by strengthening the body’s natural resistance According to world renowned and highly-regarded book Sukshma Vyayama by Dhirendra Brahmachari, it is believed that using a Neti Pot daily is an effective treatment for the following problems: chronic headache insomnia sluggishness weakness loss of hair poliosis (early grey hair) eye irritation night myopia misting of vision ear weakeningnasal illnesses cough Let's be real ... most netipots are frightfully unattractive. Never in all my travels have I seen one as beautiful as this before. So much so that I am sometimes tempted to use it as a flower vase. If you love using a netipot, you'll be pleasantly surprised by this porcelain version. And if you're new to using a netipot (like I was) then you're in for a a surprise also. It's a rather weird experience to have water going up your nose. But in terms of health benefits ... wow! I know I should use mine more often. I tend to bring it out at the change of season or when arriving home after overseas travel due to a congested nose from the awful air in aeroplanes. It works wonders! - Samantha Sargent, founder of Be Naturallyou Prepare 300ml of salt solution by adding 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt to 300ml of purified water.Do NOT use table salt as it contains additives that can irritate and damage your nose.Do NOT use untreated tap water as it may contain amoebas which can make you sick. It is crucial to use filtered or distilled water. Bend over the sink and turn your head to the side so that your ear is facing the sink. Keep your forehead at the same height as the chin, or slightly higher. You will eventually turn your head slightly so that the saline solution flows out of your opposite nostril. Breathe through your mouth. In order to close off your throat and mouth from the water rinse, breathe through your mouth. Avoid talking or laughing so that the seal in your throat is not broken, allowing water in. Insert the spout in the upper nostril. Hold it in such a way as to form a seal, preventing water from coming back out the entrance. Raise the pot so the saline solution flows into the upper nostril and out of the lower nostril. If it drains out of your mouth, lower your forehead in relation to your chin. Empty ½ of the pot per nostril. Repeat the process on the other side. Turn your head in the opposite direction and repeat the aforementioned instructions. Use the other half of the saline solution to clear out your opposite nostril. Remove excess water. When you’ve drained the entire neti pot, rest your head over the sink and blow your nose gently (without using your fingers to pinch it) to remove the excess water. Do this until most of the dripping has subsided and you can breathe relatively easily again. Clean your neti pot. To prevent high levels of bacteria growth in and on your neti pot, give it a final wash before putting it away for storage. Use warm soap and water and allow the pot to air dry.
